Wonders of Washington, D.C.
Jason and I were headed to Williamsburg for Thanksgiving with his family, so we decided to add on to our trip a bit and enjoy some time in Washington, too! I was very lucky to have gone to D.C. so often as a little kid, usually as a stop on our way to or back from the beach, and a million memories flooded back from all of my trips there as a kid.
The natural history museum is undergoing major renovations, so they had closed their main dinosaur exhibit and opened a temporary exhibit in the meantime. We were the first ones in the exhibit on the first day it was open!
The U.S. Capitol is also undergoing major renovations, and it was a little tricky to get a photograph that really shows the intricate scaffolding around the dome.
While we were walking up the long sidewalk from the parking lot at the Jefferson Memorial, we saw a fox! He was camouflaged pretty well among the fallen leaves, but he didn't seem to mind all of the people around him and he just ran around the park.
It was a pretty great trip to D.C., although I'm sure we could have spent a week there because we didn't see nearly all that we had planned to! Also, the sunset at the Jefferson Memorial was ridiculous, and I'm not sure where all these colors came from, but it was spectacular!
