Desert Adventure, Part 2!
The desert is weird and a lot of it looks like a great place to get kidnapped, but even so, it's stunning and absolutely amazing, and Joshua Tree is one of my favorite places to go hiking and photo-ing.
I talked a little about my most recent desert adventure in my previous post, so, now that it's been a month since we took the trip there (how!?), it's only fitting that I ACTUALLY FINISH THIS.
It was a beautiful and ridiculously windy day, but it warmed up and was perfect weather for exploring. As we were waiting to enter the park, a bee flew through the open window of the car and stung me on the neck. I had felt something crawling on me, but I thought it was just my hair, so when I brushed it off and realized it was a bee, my obvious reaction was to throw it at Jason. (For the record, it couldn't have stung him because the stinger, along with half of its little bee body, was still stuck in my neck.) Long story short, we entered the park and immediately pulled over so Jason could scrape a bee stinger out of my neck with a credit card. What a guy!
Joshua trees and rock formations. It was still pretty winter-y, so no wildflowers were blooming.
Kristi with a very stately joshua tree.
Jason and the vast and alien landscape.
The plant life was interesting- mostly cacti and a lot of grass that looked very dry and dead, although I'm sure it wasn't and it's just the way desert plants look.
I hope that everyone gets a chance to visit Joshua Tree National Park- and for all my friends here in California, it's really not that far from Los Angeles and it's a perfect day trip on a weekend when you just need to get away.
