Laguna Beach
I have been feeling pretty cranky and unmotivated, so I decided that since I had the day off, I would head to Laguna Beach and try to relax. I was only there for a few hours, but it was really nice to spend the day there when it's not quite as busy as it is on the weekend. It was a lovely day, and even though I managed to acquire an awkward sunburn in all the places on my back that I couldn't reach, I think I just needed some sunshine and fresh air--- I came home feeling so much better.
It was SO HOT today, so I spent a bit of time just standing with my toes in the water. And while I was staring off at the horizon and pondering life, I started to notice that disorienting thing when the water goes back out but you're still standing in place, and it feels like you're moving. This got me thinking about waves and how they work, so I decided I would stay in one place and take a photograph as the wave enters the frame. I think I moved around unintentionally, so if I were to do this again, I would definitely use a tripod. I put the images in a grid so I could compare--- the photos are taken over the course of about 2 minutes or so. I'd really like to expand upon the idea and use more images.
Now I have a to do list for my next beach day!
I also began a Photo-a-Day section on my website, so you can always take a look here to see what's new. There's only one lonely photo on there right now, but soon there will be more and I think it will become a great catalog of the everyday! I decided that I can't let myself get too busy to do what I love to do, so it's an exercise for me, but also something that I hope will grow into an interesting collection of images. I have also started adding the photo-a-day images to my blog---check back often!
